We've Struck an Iceberg!!

Discovery
Robert Ballard was on a secret mission for the Navy to find two submarines (The Thresher & The Scorpion).  Since he found them so fast, he had 12 days left to search for the Titanic.  The Titanic was discovered in 1985. Nobody knew that it was in two pieces every on thought it had sunk in one piece. Since then there have been many expeditions down to the wreck.

The maiden voyage of the Titanic was a massive disaster. It had been sailing at full speed when it struck the iceberg causing her to sink.  there was one ship near by when she sank that didn't receive her distress call and that could have saved hundreds of lives. Instead a ship named the Carpathia came to their rescue after dawn on April 15.
