9/11 On September 11, 2001, the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda launched a attack on the united states at the twin towers, the pentagon and one hijacked plane aimed at Washington DC. They had hijacker 4 planes and sent them as suicided planes into the buildings. Two hit the World Trade Center in New York causing both towers to fall and cause hundreds of deaths. The attacks caused a war in Afghanistan against Taliban forces. It was the largest attack on the united states since Pearl Harbor in 1941. Now in the place of the twin towers is a memorial where they once stood. The third plane was taken over and crashed in a field in Virginia.
